claiming Fair Use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
you are basically allowed to use any other artists work, remix, redo, parody, or even use in it's entity (with your additions, f.ex. your animation + other peoples music).
I'm not sure how it works in other countries than the US however, it's possible that there's a mention in the wiki linked above, or on the official Fair Use page. http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.ht ml

All of the above is assuming that you do NOT intend to use the work for any commercial purpose. What the limits are can be shady in some cases, but generally you're not allowed to make money directly from your work that includes other peoples work.

Full credit must be given too.
Check the links for more info.

If you had been watching the front page news you`d have already noticed this:

Ah thankyou ;)

I may still create the animation, checking with the artist for permission. If they agree I'll post it, if not I'll still have the practice behind me.

TL;DR you can`t use music without permission from the artists who made it

Read my blog for funny!

Australia?

Shit Son, heard you had some bad ass floods there at the minute!

I'm sure you can do whatever it is this post is about and get away with it while playing the sympathy card!

What is this post about? I just got suckered in by your hot face display pic..

God damn it!

Use their music, link to their itunes, link to their cd on amazon, link to their twitter/facebook and give them credit in the credits. IT's pretty much free advertising then and maybe the band will really appreciate it. Just don't make the video too crazy. lol.

I emailed their contact and am awaiting a reply.

By crazy do you mean, well made or too different to the song?
